Handling of drawing components within eCl@ss

As an industry-wide classification standard for products and services, eCl@ss is focussing on catalogue and standard components as well as standardised services. From a product perspective, however, there are more, namely drawing parts and assemblies, which are only conditionally or non-standardized, but are still relevant. See the following examples:

  • For manufacturing companies, mechanical and electronic components and assemblies for which a “drawing” is available
  • In spare parts management mechanical and electronic components and assemblies purchased from the plant manufacturer
  • In exchange of electronic catalogue data between customer and supplier, for example in metal trade, which makes individual cuts

Depending on the application, various questions may apply:

  • How can eCl@ss be extended accordingly?
  • What is available within eCl@ss already?

To introduce this topic and based on experience during several customer projects, Class.Ing offers you a free webinar. You can register for one of the following schedules or request your individual appointment under vertrieb( at )classing.de. Class.Ing will provide its own whitepaper on this topic at webinar participation.

  • Monday, 02nd March 2020 at 2:00 pm until 2:30 pm

Illustration of different granularities on eCl@ss classification

Experience has shown, when using eCl@ss in-house (for example in manufacturing enterprises or within spare parts management) it is not always necessary to use the finest granularity specified by eCl@ss. For further elucidation: It is usually not relevant for a plant builder who uses eCl@ss in purchasing for example to distinguish between different types of pencils, ballpoint pens and fountain pens that are available as individual classes within eCl@ss. Especially in the field of indirect material (not applicable in the production process), the information that it is a writing instrument is completely sufficient (eCl@ss Core group / Level 2)

Class.Ing webinar: eCl@ss characteristic - acquirement and mapping

The characteristic-based description of the eCl@ss standard is increasingly important. Now, how can these characteristic values be generated more easily? Class.Ing introduces the following options in a webinar:

  • Simple and targeted recording of characteristic values
  • Automated derivation of characteristic values from descriptive texts
  • Creation of characteristic values using mappings from other classifications (enterprise specific classifications and other classification standards)
