Digitization in Metal Industry

Created by Frank Scherenschlich |

About 1.5 years ago, the new expert group of the segment 35 “semi-finished products” started to revise the eCl@ss main groups for ferrous and non-ferrous metals according to the current market requirements. This was accompanied by various discussions in the direction of digitization, where eCl@ss can also provide added value: How can existing processes be optimized? How can customer loyalty and communication be improved using the standard?

Through the participation of various companies of the value chain, specialists in specific product areas and the cooperation with associations, the revision has been finalized and is currently being prepared as a change request for release 11.0. Many aspects have been taken into account for optimal use in all application scenarios, such as the balance between classification and properties or the classification and description of drawing parts, which account for a significant proportion in this industry branch.

The Class.Ing Engineering Partnership (www.classing.de) supports and leads the expert group. Frank Scherenschlich, owner and CEO of Class.Ing, reports: "The cooperation with the different companies has worked very well. Many discussions have led to a good, promising result. It is also gratifying how many synergy potentials arise."

As a service provider for eCl@ss, Class.Ing is happy to answer your questions about digitization in the metal industry or other industries. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
